Battersea

After seeing Pink Floyd's Animals cover, an album released in 1977 I decided that my next time in London i should check out this massive building and its surroundings. Its a coal-fired electricity station that dates from 1939. It might be one of the best representations of art-deco, industrial decadency and urbanity, ever. Its simplicity makes it perfect. Across the years it has been used as image of many artistic expressions, cinema, music, photography, painting.

Electricity generation ended in 1983. Currently, the facility is under redevelopment to create a hughe commercial and leisure center.
